President Tinubu Approves Annual Nigerian Police Force Recruitment, Emphasizes Manpower Boost and Officer Welfare

In a recent announcement, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given his approval for the annual recruitment of the Nigerian Police Force, according to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun.

Addressing the need for increased manpower, IGP Egbetokun acknowledged the existing shortage within the command. He shared insights into the challenges faced during his tenure as CP, emphasizing the demanding nature of the job and the vital role each officer plays.

"We are actively working to bolster our force. The President has recently sanctioned the annual recruitment of police personnel. This strategic approach is crucial as we aim to double the strength of the police in the country. While this cannot be achieved overnight, we are committed to gradual but significant progress," stated IGP Egbetokun.

Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of police training to enhance the capabilities of officers, ensuring they are well-prepared for their responsibilities.

Acknowledging the challenges faced by officers, IGP Egbetokun affirmed, "We are also exploring avenues to improve the lives of our officers, including salary increases and addressing other aspects. Priority is given to the provision of necessary police equipment, and we have pledged to enhance the insurance program for our personnel."

The approval for annual recruitment reflects a strategic move by the administration to address manpower shortages within the Nigerian Police Force, underscoring a commitment to the welfare and effectiveness of law enforcement officers.
